Reflecting on Rokt
What do you like most about working at Rokt?
I enjoy working with a fantastic group of smart, but humble, people to solve some really challenging problems around ecommerce transactions. We are passionate about making a real difference for our clients and their customers. It is incredibly rewarding to see clients and customers benefit from our product and Rokt continue to grow as a result.
What are some of the key changes you’ve seen since you started working at Rokt 7 years ago?
There are many! When I joined, we were a small company with less than 50 people working primarily from an office in North Sydney. Seven years later, we are a successful tech unicorn with a compelling product for ecommerce businesses and marketers generating over $200m revenue (run rate). In that time the team has grown to over 350 people, and many of our Rokt’stars have grown into leadership roles.
On the flip side, what hasn’t changed is our vision to unlock value by creating more relevant experiences in the connected world of ecommerce transactions. We’ve also held true to our culture and values that we defined in the early days based on who we were and how we operated.
What’s your favorite memory from your time at Rokt?
Our Global Kick Off event on the beach in Phuket, Thailand in January 2020. It was so good to see everyone from Rokt offices around the world, align on our vision and plans for the year and have an amazing time celebrating and connecting as a team. It also happened to be my last major event before two years of COVID-induced travel restrictions!
What is your favorite Rokt tradition? (GKO, TGIF, Wellness Week, etc.)
Celebrating our successes and regularly connecting as a team. In Sydney, we gather on a Friday afternoon for “Duck Friday” to share highlights from the week, thank our colleagues for their achievements and have one of our teams who demo share what they have built. If you are wondering why it’s called “Duck Friday”, you will just have to ask a Rokt’star or come and join us to find out! Globally, we take this to another level when we bring the entire team together in one location to re-connect and celebrate what we have achieved.
What Rokt value do you most identify with?
Smart with Humility – we solve a wide range of problems and generate better outcomes by bringing together a diverse group of smart people without ego.
What are you looking forward to in the next three to five years at Rokt?
Continued growth of our product, marketplace, and people. This year we will optimize more than 1 billion ecommerce transactions, but there is still so much more to be done. We are enhancing our product to create more relevant experiences for customers and realising more value from each transaction so our clients can invest more in their core business. We’re also expanding into new verticals, segments, and geographies. We will, however, only realise this ambition by supporting the growth and development of our people.
